PRESS RELEASE Pines Calyx eco-Venue was the ideal place for The 2011 Ecommerce in Kent Award

By Alan Noake.    The award for Kent’s best online shopping site was presented at Pines Calyx, St Margaret’s Bay near Dover.

The winning online shop was Biccies, www.biccies.com, owned by Jo Mollony of  Chatham in Kent.

Biccies

Jo who wins a two night stay for two at the Wallet’s Court Country House Hotel & Spa said, “Dear Santa, I don’t need anything else this year thanks. Yesterday The ICELAB awarded me an amazing prize and it has made my year!”

The final six nominations, as chosen by the public, were judged by a panel of independent business people Graham Seymour (Shopper Anonymous Kent), Steve Gooding (TheBunker.net), Sam Anderson(Post & Packing Warehouse Ltd), Hayden Sutherland (Ideal Interface), Sezen Zeki, (Channel Chamber of Commerce) and Paul Andrews (Jobs In Kent).

Second place, as determined by the judges, was awarded to www.shoponyourdoorstep.com of Broadstairs in Kent.

Coming first in the eyes of the 700+ public votes, Ben Barratt was awarded 3rd place for his website www.billandbenthecartoonmen.com.

In fourth place was www.tshirtwonderland.co.uk, in fifth was www.fentonsofkent.co.uk and in sixth www.theperfectcardcompany.co.uk

The awards were presented as part of the iShopKent 2011 event which brought together retailers based in Kent who sell online with technology providers.  Many people enjoy the ease and convenience of shopping online but would also like to keep their money local and the www.iShopKent.co.uk website offers just that.  Instead of driving to a shopping centre, one click of the button online opens the door to access businesses the buyer knows are based inKent.

The event and award were sponsored by The ICELAB Ltd, www.theicelab.co.uk , to celebrate their fourth anniversary and event signage was sponsored by DMS Graphics in Maidstone, www.askdms.com .

Last year’s winner, Georgette Hewitt, from www.thepresentclub.com who presented this year’s award went on to appear on BBC TV’s Dragon’s Den.

iShopKent 2011 – only 2 weeks to go! Will you be there?

There are just two weeks to go beforeKent’s online shopping conference comes to the Pines Calyx Eco Conference Centre near Dover.

Why should I go?

Online shopping is changing at an incredible rate. As technology advances, buyers and retailers are expecting more and more from their online shop. That’s why all of us – from technology companies like The ICELAB to small businesses, high street outlets, mail order companies and established online retailers – need to keep up with current industry trends.

What’s it all about?

iShopKent 2011 isKent’s only specialist Online Shopping Conference. With experienced guests speaking on key strategies for successful online trading and getting an edge with the latest technologies, it’s a fantastic opportunity to listen to, learn from and ask questions of those at the sharp end of eCommerce.

The day’s full agenda, plus details about our speakers and how to secure your place can be found at www.ishopkent.co.uk/2011

Who will be there?

As well as our speakers – who have proven experience in the world of eCommerce – there’ll be other delegates from all sectors of the retail and digital industry in Kent. So with time scheduled for open networking, you could make some useful contacts too.

What’s the rush?

The venue is the Pines Calyx, an award winning eco conference centre close to the White Cliffs of Dover. It’s a fabulous space but its capacity is limited, and as interest in the event has been high, you need to book soon if you want to ensure your place.
